Free Run

There is a movement in the bike world here in the Midwest, and here's the deal...it's free.

No entry fees

No hoops

No hassles

Just show up and ride.

Running being my first love, I've taken to biking mostly because my knees can't take the long 20 mile runs anymore.

Having said that, I still run. Just not the insane mileage.

So, I was looking for a 10k to run and I'm shocked to see the average entry fee is 30 to 40 bucks to run 6.2 miles.

And almost all marathons today are +100 dollars.

Seriously?

Now, I understand the cost of insurance and whatnot but come on...

So anyway, it's got me thinking of putting on a free running event. Maybe a gravel road run, or a Douglas trail run, or maybe a run around Oxbow.

Winners will receive a stick that they can place proudly upon their mantel.

Just thinking out loud here.
